What happens when the one person you truly hate is the one person who really sees you?

After McKnley Rhodes’s family fell apart, she struck out at Cole Matthews, her then best friend. Over twenty years later, she’s never forgotten the hurt she endured or the hate for the boy she believed caused it.

Cole Matthews hasn’t seen his childhood friend, McKnley Rhodes, for twenty-two years, and what he finds shocks him. She’s tired and beaten down, and he wants to fix that, just as he used to when they were kids. Cole’s the only one who can see she’s putting on an act by embracing her rock star persona. His new goal is to determine why and put an end to her torment.

Will McKnley let him in or will he leave her with no place to hide?

It’s Dad’s turn to scoff. “Reed Ryan is your best friend. There’s no way he would get your hopes up like this only to dash them. I knew it was a good move you becoming friends with them. It was a master stroke on my part, probably one of my best ideas.”

I want to tell him that you can’t force the kind of friendship Reed and I have, but I don’t. It’s better to let him think he controls things than argue with him.

“Yeah, Reed’s a good guy.”

“Who cares if he’s a good guy. All I care about is what kind of package he puts together for you,” is what he says. What he means is “I want to know what kind of commission I get as your manager and what other perks I’m able to get so I can big note to everyone else in the industry.”

“I’m sure you’ll be quick to remedy it if it isn’t to your satisfaction.”

“Damn right I will, can’t have my moneymaker treated like a second-class citizen, now can I?”

I know in his mind those words sound endearing, but to me they perfectly encompass our relationship. He’s not really my dad; he’s the manager of a rider who just won a Supermoto title and I’m nothing more than the guy on the bike who’s going to make him a shitload of money.

“Right, thanks,” I say.

“No need to thank me, son. This is what I do, what I live for.”

“How could I forget?” I ask. It seems like my whole life my dad’s been in the background waiting to pounce on whatever success I had and turning it into a deal for him, something to make him look good.

“Any other connections you made tonight that may have slipped under my radar?”

My dance with Knley flashes through my mind. “Nope, nothing I can think of.” Even though she made her feelings towards me crystal clear, I refuse to give up on her. I know what you’re thinking, that I’m not giving up on her because I like the thrill of the chase or some shit like that, but it’s not that at all. No, there’s something sad about Knley. When we were little, she shone as bright as a star. Now she still shines bright but it’s forced. It’s the way her smile is a little too big, her answers a little too enthusiastic. I can see it clear as day, which makes me wonder why no one else has caught onto it.

“Right, well if that’s all,” my dad says, bringing my attention back to the present.

“Yep, pretty much,” I tell him.

“I’ll keep an eye out for that Ryan Racing contract then.”

“You do that.”

“I guess that’s the thing about high school reunions, though. They make you snap a little.”

In the ten years since high school graduation, Maylee’s career, living arrangements, family, and especially her love life are at a standstill. When her twin brother, Mitch, falls for her high school enemy at their ten-year reunion, Maylee’s life is catapulted into chaos.

Maylee’s hatred for the blonde-haired Josephine isn’t the only thing she discovers at her reunion. Benson Drake, the introvert from high school, has matured into a sexy intellect. Now a writer and bartender, Benson’s grown into a man with a perfect balance of quirky wit and sex appeal. After a wardrobe malfunction, a spy mission gone wrong, and a dangerous cup of coffee, Maylee and Benson explore something they never even thought about during senior year. Along the way, they find out that reconnecting with the past can change you… or maybe just help you find your true self.

I guess that’s the thing about high school reunions, though. They make you snap a little. At least I can admit to it. This has to be the first step to admitting psychosis, right?

Mitch thinks I’ve taken it too far. Shauni, of course, thinks I’m doing the right thing.

“Show those snotty jerks just what you’ve become,” she told me yesterday. “Especially the blonde. Show her you’ve won.”

I’d smiled, munching on my lunch of celery and carrot sticks in my attempt to shed a few more ounces of water weight. Nevertheless, the whole time I was asking myself a very hard question: Have I really won? If I’m going to so much trouble to fool my classmates into thinking I’ve done so well for myself, aren’t there deeper problems than booblessness and a flabby waistline?

Maybe the problem isn’t my body type, my hair, or any of it. Maybe it’s because at twenty-eight, I thought life would be a little different, a little bit more… grown-up.

Looking in the mirror, however, I know I can’t pretend to be all introspective and mature about it. Even though I know it’s ridiculous, there’s a part of me deep down that does want to show her I’ve done okay for myself, no matter what. I want the girl who tortured me in high school, who convinced me I was a mousey nerd, to realize I blossomed.

Even if it is a bit of a lie. Or a lot of a lie.

“Let’s go,” Mitch yells from the living room. I sigh.

No more introspection. It’s go time.

It’s time to face my past.

My Review
☆☆☆☆☆

As someone who went to school with a 'Josephine' who made my life miserable, it was easy to connect with Maylee from the beginning. I couldn't get mad at her for the way she reacted throughout the story because I could see myself making the same decisions. This was a great story of lifelong friendships, second chances at love, and how some people can change even when others can't. I love everything about this book, the characters were well written and real, the story was captivating, and the ending was satisfying even though it made me cry...twice

A high school English teacher, an author, and a fan of anything pink and/or glittery, Lindsay's the English teacher cliché; she love cats, reading, Shakespeare, and Poe.

She currently lives in her hometown with her husband, Chad (her junior high sweetheart); their cats, Arya, Amelia, Alice, and Bob; and their Mastiff, Henry.

Lindsay's goal with her writing is to show the power of love and the beauty of life while also instilling a true sense of realism in her work. Some reviewers have noted that her books are not the “typical romance.” With her novels coming from a place of honesty, Lindsay examines the difficult questions, looks at the tough emotions, and paints the pictures that are sometimes difficult to look at. She wants her fiction to resonate with readers as realistic, poetic, and powerful. Lindsay wants women readers to be able to say, “I see myself in that novel.” She wants to speak to the modern woman’s experience while also bringing a twist of something new and exciting. Her aim is for readers to say, “That could happen,” or “I feel like the characters are real.” That’s how she knows she's done her job.

Lindsay's hope is that by becoming a published author, she can inspire some of her students and other aspiring writers to pursue their own passions. She wants them to see that any dream can be attained and publishing a novel isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

The Parker Harris Series by Amy K McClung

The Parker Harris Series

Parker Harris was just a normal teenage girl with a normal teenage life. That was true until two years ago, when she was bitten by a werewolf and forced to endure the painful shifting each month during the full moon. She has had to keep this secret from everyone she loves. One day a stranger enters her small town and knows her secret, although she has never told a living soul about it. Nothing ever happens in the small town of Cascade Idaho and new people rarely move in. It's Parker's senior year now and two new faces show up in town and shortly after their arrival there is a brutal murder, the first in Cascades history.

Cascades of Moonlight Book 1

Where did my inspiration come from for this story?

My husband. I was out of work and stressed beyond belief. While watching an episode of The Vampire Diaries I was talking to my hubby about how I would have written a different ending for the story. He suggested I write my own story to take my mind off the stress, so I did. And three months later, even after finding a job long before that, I had a 250 page book so I decided to publish it.
Book One is FREE on all platforms. Get your copy today and get lost in the story of Parker and her friends.

Amazon Reviewers Say:
"Vampires, werewolves, love, betrayal it had pretty much everything you want in a book. There were several surprises that I didn't see coming. I felt a lot of anticipation because of that. There were a couple of twists I didn't expect."

"Wow this book was kinda intense. So many things where happening, one thing after another that you had to read faster because you just wanted to know what was going to happen next. It was a good story with action and twist and turns, that the author had you guessing what would happen next. I couldn't put the book down till I had read it all."

Dreams, Spells, & Moonlit Tales Book 2

The meaning behind my covers:

Cascades cover is from a photo of my favorite local waterfall. It's at Fall Creek Falls State Park in TN. As my story progressed and Quinn and Parker's favorite place became a waterfall, it seemed a nice way to design a cover and pay homage to a piece of my history. The waterfall was where we spent many family vacations when I was younger.
Dreams cover is to represent the claddagh ring which is explained in the story so I don't want to give it away too much.
The Dark Moon cover is a picture of a rose opened fully and starting to wither. In this book there is a character who reaches this point. They grow to maturity just in time for their life to be in danger. Who is it? You'll have to read to find out.
The Cold Moon is the flip side of the picture on the first book. Since it's from a different perspective it seemed to make perfect sense to flip the picture like the perspective.

Amazon Reviewers Say:

"This series embodies YA, giving us all the hallmarks of an EPIC Paranormal YA Read!

- Vampires, Witches, and Werewolves, OH MY!!!
- Angst Ridden Characters
- Lie, Deceit, and Heartbreak, and last, but by no means least,
- Soul Mates and Love Triangles
All these must-haves are wrapped in a beautiful but unassuming cover"

"I could not put this book down. This is the second book in the series and it is so much better then the first. There were so many plots twists that I never saw coming! The story is well written and a real page turner. You must read the first book before you read this one. I highly recommend this book to both adults and YA readers."

The Dark Moon Book 3

Amazon Reviewers Say:

"I'm so sad it's over. I so enjoyed all of the books. what wonderful twists and turns that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I loved everything about this book, and the first two also. Bravo for making me feel like I was living the story with all of them. I do hope more stories for all of them will come soon. This can't be the end.
Thank you for such a wonderful journey."

"The Dark Moon was just that...dark. So many sad things happened, so many wonderful things happened. It was a roller coaster, for sure, but one I would gladly ride again. I can't wait to read more from this author!"

The Cold Moon Book 4

Why I wrote this novella....

With each book released in the series I heard the same thing from my readers, "I LOVE Mitchell!" So when one of my most loyal readers, who's since become a friend, said she'd love to read a novel from his perspective, I accepted the challenge. I loved getting into Mitchell's head. He's one of my favorite characters from anything I've written. He's a loyal friend, a gentleman, funny, and incredibly hot...what more could a girl want?

The Spin-off...

The Shimmering Pool
The Crispin Sinclair Chronicles

Crispin Sinclair isn't your average teenage boy. He inherited precognitive dreams from his mother who died during childbirth. His other unique quality was inherited from his father; Crispin is a werewolf. Growing up as a supernatural being in a world that doesn't know they exist is difficult to say the least. Crispin's been lucky that his family is made up of supernaturals; witches, vampires, and werewolves. As he begins to obtain his werewolf abilities, his life will be thrown into turmoil placing everyone he loves in danger.

Amytha Roberts feels like the most ordinary girl in the world. She was adopted at age five but not by your traditional idea of parents; her mom's a werewolf and her dad's a vampire. Amytha's best friend Crispin is a werewolf with futuristic dream abilities, while she is an average sixteen-year-old girl surrounded by paranormal beings. Stories of Amytha's past begin to surface causing her family to investigate more into where she came from.

Crispin and Amytha take turns telling this story of being in a family that you choose, being abnormal in an ordinary world and the importance of friendship. Together they will go on adventures into a faraway place where they'll encounter new creatures and discover truths they never imagined.
